A BIT ABOUT US
The Gilded Cage has been selling Gifts and Jewellery in Falkirk in Central Scotland since 1968 gathering a varied ,unfailingly generous occasionally peculiar, and remarkably pleasant customer base over the decades. It is one of our proudest boasts that we have customers who began shopping with us in the late 60's when my mother first opened the doors of the original Gilded Cage and who are now, some 40 years later, still regulars as in many cases, are their children and in some cases their grandchildren! We also have customers who having emigrated to 'the Colonies' over the years still regard themselves as 'regulars' dropping in whenever they visit 'the old country', perhaps just for a blether and maybe just to check that we are still here but as often as not to look for some Gifts to take home.
Whilst our Website is initially configured just to deal with UK customers (and currency) it is our hope eventually to become a proper 'World Wide Web' Retailer. Until then we will be only too happy to reply to any of our expat customers requests if they care to contact us by e-mail.
Those of you who know the shop will perhaps also regard the fact that we are beginning our cyber-life with a single product line a bit odd bearing in mind the wide range of products you know we carry. There are lots of reasons for this, some of them technical, some of them to do with the fact that we are keen not to 'bite off more than we can chew' at the start of what we hope will be an 'interesting' new venture. We intend to role out more product ranges as we get to grips with this 'Internet Malarkey' but until then if you have seen anything in the shop at some point don't hesitate to drop us an e-mail to find out if it is available and what the postage would be to your neck of the woods (however exotic or far-flung). Anyway whether you are a 'new' customer (in which case 'hello' and 'it's nice to see you') or an 'old' customer(in which case 'hello again' and 'how are you?) we hope that your 'online experience' with The Gilded Cage is as straightforward and as enjoyable as we can make it.
